On December 7, 2022, China announced major changes to its strict Covid-19 policy, a reversal of the guidelines Xi Jinping has implemented. The change in policy appears to be a result of unrest and a loss of faith in the policy by the bulk of the urban China population.
Beginning January 8, 2023, the government has allowed people with Covid to quarantine at home and has stated that foreign visitors entering the country will no longer be required to enter quarantine.
